Usher Raves About His Experience At BLACKPINK’s Concert + Shares How Group Influenced His Las Vegas Residency

Usher has dished on his admiration for BLACKPINK in a new interview!

On February 22 local time, GQ magazine released a new feature with Usher where he looked back on his career, spoke about his Las Vegas residency, and more.

In one notable segment, Usher dished on being introduced to BLACKPINK at their concert in Atlanta last year, which he attended with his two teenage sons. He expressed his amazement with the experience, complimenting their performance, choreography, and storytelling. Usher explained, “They were putting on a show. Wardrobe, great sequencing, with the lighting and everything working in sync – there’s no detail spared. I loved that.”

Usher then talked about how this concert experience inspired him, revealing that he took notes of BLACKPINK’s detail-oriented work to incorporate into his Las Vegas residency. Wanting his own shows to maintain that same standard of excellence, Usher shared, “I really wanted to give women something to look forward to, something to come here to Las Vegas with their friends for.” He added, “They come out and really enjoy themselves for the entire weekend. They want to be able to really get away and have an experience.”

Usher’s current Las Vegas residency “Usher: My Way” is being held at the Dolby Live inside the Park MGM and is slated to run until July before kicking back up in October.

BLACKPINK is currently on the world’s largest scale girl group concert “BORN PINK” and has already completed 14 concerts in North America and 10 concerts in Europe last year. After kicking off their Asia tour in January, BLACKPINK is scheduled to perform in Kuala Lumpur on March 4, followed by performances in Jakarta, Kaohsiung, and Manila throughout the month. Later in the spring, BLACKPINK will perform as headliners at Coachella in California and at British Summer Time (BST) Hyde Park in London, making them the first K-pop acts to accomplish both feats.
